I was talking to my dad just a while ago.
One thing I really appreciate about him is that no matter how tired he is, he spends time to say a 'Hi' and ask how I'm doing.
And he makes sure everything is good for me at work and in life.
He was just sharing a few good memories he had about his dad who departed from this world early this year.
When my dad was little, my grandfather was a big terror to him. He used to be strict and discipline was very important to him. But of cos, during other times, he used to play with my dad alot.
Sharing two of those incidents which was very funny. (Somehow or rather, it just also proves how good my grandfather was in handling kids)
When my dad was about four, he had this tendency to steal food from the refrigerator. When asked, he wud just deny the whole thing. So his mum got really upset about this and wanted to find out the culprit really badly. One day, my grandmother confronts my dad on this issue again. My dad denies it. My grandfather asks him 'Boy, did you take just one or you finished everything'??
My dad went 'I only took one!'
There you go. My dad had it. Kenna whacked.
Another one was when my dad was about 7. My grandmother really pampered him alot and since she used to own a food stall last time, she used to cook alot of yummy dishes for him. She would show her favoritism very obviously when serving meals.
My grandad dislikes this unfair treatment and tries to get back by taking those extra yummy stuff from my dad, in a tactful way.
Grandad: 'Boy.. Is this item yummy?'
Dad: 'Yes Dad! You should try it!' *offers everything to his dad*
And eventually my Grandad does it again.. and again til my grandma finds out. When she does, it always became a war.
And we started laughing.
I can see that my dad missed his dad a great deal.
